Job Description and Duties

This position is a remote position from
Fresno County
. The incumbent will work from their home in Fresno County. Remote staff will be required to travel to our Headquarters in Oakland CA up to three (3) days per month. The travel costs are paid for at the State rate by the State Coastal Conservancy.

The Coastal Conservancy is hiring an Information Technology Specialist I to be part of a small team of talented employees providing technical support to Conservancy staff in support of various business programs. This will include management and development of software tools for an SQL database development of data management tools in Excel support with cloud-based software as a service system such as SharePoint and web-based conferencing systems such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams. This position will manage Information Technology (IT) projects systems engineering and information security.

The position can be based in our Oakland office (Alameda County) with a hybrid office and telework arrangement or can be remote-based with requirement of up to three days in the Oakland office each month. The Information Technology Specialist I has three salary ranges. The monthly salary range for each are as follows:

Range A – $5815.00 – $7793.00
Range B – $6394.00 – $8570.00
Range C – $7021.00 – $9408.00

If you are new to state employment you will start at the minimum of the salary of the range that you meet the alternate range criteria.

Working Conditions

  • Monday through Friday. This is a permanent remote position. The incumbent would work from their home in Fresno County.
  • You will be expected to be in the Oakland office up to 3 days a month. All costs (transportation hotel per diem for meals) for travel to the Oakland office will be paid by the Conservancy.
  • Operate various IT equipment daily. Work with routers and switches etc. weighing approximately 25-40 lbs.; and move equipment either solely (50 lbs. max.) or with another person (100 lbs. max.) as needed.
  • Expected to multitask meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities in a cooperative manner.
  • May require travel within California approximately 5-7 times per year sometimes staying overnight.

Department Information

The Coastal Conservancy is a state agency that undertakes and supports projects to protect restore and enhance coastal resources promote resilience to climate change impacts and increase opportunities for the public to enjoy the coast. The Conservancy works along the entire length of California’s coast and within the watersheds of rivers and streams that extend inland from the coast. The Conservancy also works throughout the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area and the entire Santa Ana River watershed. The Conservancy awards and oversees grants to local governments other state agencies nonprofit organizations and tribes using various types of funding including bond funds federal funds and mitigation fees. The Conservancy is a small agency of 70 dedicated experienced employees who work collaboratively and creatively to achieve the Conservancy’s mission.
